Cub Scouts-Blue & Gold

This weekend we celebrated to birth of Cub Scouts with our Blue & Gold Banquet. We went with a Native them and I have to say, it was a great celebration! Of course I was on deck, helping with the decorations, so I decided to do Ice Cream Cone Tee Pee's for centerpieces. I think they turned out pretty cute.

Then we added some plastic table coverings and feathers down the middle for a little bit of interest.

The kids had a great time playing games, having pizza & cake, and doing skits they had prepared.

Colton completed all of the requirements to receive his Bear Badge. He will become a Webelo next year and is so excited!

Then here is our wonderful well behaved pack, all together.

And here is how they are most of the time.......boys will be boys! lol

Happy Birthday Cub Scouts!

Colton's Bathroom Update

So as most of you know, our little bathroom update of painting only, turned into quite the weekend warrior project! Here is the recap with some better photos.

We had planned to do a little in-exspensive update to Colton's bathroom, so we had our Friday date night to Home Depot. The original plan was to paint the walls & cabinets, change the faucet, and a few decorative items like the lamp shower curtain, ect.

Sat morning we got up and at it at warp speed, walls all painted, then I went to start staining the cabinets, and the side felt soft. I knew then this project was about to grow by 200x! We saw it was coming from the wall at the back of the cabinet, so the demo began. Long story short in a matter of about an hour, we had pulled out the vanity, flooring, and cut out a lot of sheetrock! The toilet had been leaking for a while, but was running between the floors and puddling at the wall and vanity. We ended up replacing everything in the bathroom except for the shower in 2 days! Here are some before and after comparisons.

The Details: Did you know you can take a photo to Office Depot and asked for an industrial print and get an oversize black & white for $1.50! We added the beadboard on all walls to cover the sheet rock that we had cut out, a pretty good trade I do believe!

I am just about in love with this faucet!

I have to admit, I am a little jealous of Colton and his "spa" like bathroom, and find myself using it more now :)

Pinterest On Parade

So I am sure everyone by now knows about Pinterest? If not then where have you been?
What a great & addicting website for "crafty's" like myself! So at the beginning of the year one of my great friends decided to start our own little Pinterest group to have a little get together every month. What better reason to get with your girlfriends for a few hours on the weekend, right?

So we have had 2 so far, and here is how we run them. We rotate the "host" for the month and that person is in charge of providing the "craft" it can be anything that obviously can be finished in just a few hours.

Then, each person brings a dish, dip, or dessert of a creative recipe for us all to "munch" on during craft time. It has been so much fun! I have been very bad at taking pictures at these function because I am all wrapped up in the fun. :)

Here was my craft from Jan. We did 2 framed pieces.
     1) Was a Valentine themed...dry erase board for our hubby's
     2) Was an chipboard initial frame

I did manage to take a picture of the dessert I took in Jan. as well.
Mini Cheesecakes from HERE
They did fall a little because I had to rush the cooling time, but still tasted great!

For February we did a painted canvas of our child's birth info. We used stickers, paint, and spray paint. The paint bled under the stickers a little bit, but I like that it gives it that kind of weathered look.

Next month I am hosting the party and still thinking of what craft we will do. I have a few ideas :)

Year 2013-Do Over

For those that know me I had started off 2013 with a bang.....Motivated...Inspired...Focused

Then on Jan 10th my world came crashing down! Now with daddy gone, I know he would want me to pick up and "keep truckin". Things will never be the same in my life, but I must find a way to move on.  I want to make him proud, so with that I declare officially declare this a "Do Over!" Thank you to all of my family and friends for the most awesome support system anyone could ask for, I love you all!

What better way to get on track and stay focused than with an inspiration board. Getting back to the basics of what makes me happy. I am a very visual person, so I have one of these in my office, right above my computer, and one taped to my mirror. I find that I kind of meditate while blow drying my hair, so on the mirror is a good place for me to visualize these things and make them happen!

Okay 2013........BRING IT!
Who's with me?
